DDI was one of the Design Principals in collaboration with a team of architects, engineers and designers for the master planning, architectural, interior design and environmental graphic design services for the $550 million dollar, 635,000 square foot jetBlue Terminal 5 project, planned for 26 gates to accommodate 20 million passengers a year. Responsive to jetBlue’s brand emphasis on high-value, low-cost services, the design team employed a minimalist architectural aesthetic, creatively selecting natural materials, exposed structural steel, corrugated metal and glass. The wayfinding system is based on stringent Port Authority of New York and New Jersey standards for the use of colors, materials and typographic specifications.
